You've heard of medical studies for money? Medical research and science research cross over in the NASA studies, and new paid medical studies are instituted at the space agency every year. Research compensation in NASA trials are the highest around, because a lot of the human subject testing budget goes toward government research to get humanity to Mars! Most other types of clinical trials carry high risk with experimental substances or particular medical conditions, but this is not the average medical research job.
